Wellen Park High School

Venice, FL

Wellen Park High School represents one of the largest and most comprehensive projects undertaken by Cougar Companies. This 180,000-square-foot educational facility required extensive coordination, manpower, and expertise across multiple construction disciplines to successfully deliver a project of this magnitude. Our team completed every major structural component of the project, from foundations and concrete slabs to structural masonry and tilt-wall construction. The project incorporated more than 22,000 cubic yards of concrete and approximately 125,000 CMU block, making it one of the most significant educational projects in our portfolio. The campus features three-story tilt-wall classroom buildings with elevated concrete slab pours, three elevator shafts, and multiple stairwells, all requiring precise planning and execution. Beyond the classroom facilities, Cougar Companies constructed the baseball and softball dugouts, the reinforced concrete columns supporting the football stadium bleachers, and the auditorium's cast-in-place concrete theater seating structure. From the initial foundations to the final structural elements, Wellen Park High School demonstrates Cougar Companies' ability to self-perform large, complex projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship. The successful completion of this project further solidifies our experience in delivering large-scale educational facilities that demand exceptional coordination, technical expertise, and attention to detail.

The Foley Products Manufacturing Facility was one of the most demanding industrial projects undertaken by Cougar Companies, requiring extensive site preparation, complex excavation, and heavy-duty concrete construction to support the operations of a precast concrete manufacturing plant. This project brought together multiple Cougar Companies divisions, combining our civil and concrete expertise to deliver a highly specialized industrial facility. The work began with the excavation of two large equipment pits that required the removal of approximately two feet of cap rock. Due to the challenging subsurface conditions, our crews utilized a large excavator equipped with a hydraulic hammer attachment to complete the rock excavation. The project also required an extensive dewatering operation to maintain a safe and workable excavation. Four hydraulic pumps—including two 12-inch pumps, one 10-inch pump, and one 8-inch pump—operated continuously, 24 hours a day for more than a week to control groundwater and allow construction to proceed. On the structural concrete side, Cougar Companies constructed a massive 24-inch-thick monolithic concrete slab designed to support the heavy industrial equipment and demanding production environment of the facility. The placement required more than 4,000 cubic yards of concrete and strict adherence to tolerances and sequencing to ensure long-term performance and durability. The Foley Products Manufacturing Facility demonstrates Cougar Companies' ability to successfully execute large-scale industrial projects that demand specialized equipment, extensive coordination, and technical expertise. From difficult site conditions and major excavation operations to the placement of heavy structural concrete, this project reflects our capability to deliver complex industrial construction solutions built to perform in the most demanding environments.
